90° Energie – Statement
Kontrast ist der Referenzrahmen für uns Menschen. Er kann für uns Glück bedeuten, intensiven Genuss erlauben, und er verändert unsere Wahrnehmung. Aus Kontrast und damit Vergleich entsteht Bedeutung. Ein Leben ohne Kontrast wäre folglich bedeutungslos.

Was mich am Kontrast begeistert, ist das, was aus ihm entstehen kann. Kontrast bedeutet Reibung und Reibung erzeugt Energie. Energie für Veränderungen der eigenen Position und in einigen Fällen Energie für einen völlig neuen Weg, die 90° Energie (orange Fläche).

Für dieses Objekt habe ich nach einer einfachen Darstellungsform gesucht. Ein Grundelement der Kunst, Linien. Horizontale Linien treffen auf vertikale Linien. Weiß trifft auf Schwarz. Maximaler Kontrast, für die 90° Energie, die maximale Veränderung aus dem Kontrast heraus.
Interessant ist auch der metaphorische Spielraum der Linien. Die vertikalen Linien, aufrecht, nach oben strebend, unerschütterlich, eher konservativ. Hingegen die horizontalen Linien, bodenständig, beweglich, Veränderung aus eigener Kraft.
Und dann der Blickwinkel, die Veränderung der eigenen Position zum Objekt. Während die horizontalen Linien unabhängig von der eigenen Position durchlässig bleiben, verdichten sich die vertikalen Linien (werden undurchlässiger) von der weißen Seite aus betrachtet.
Kontrast ist für mich wie ein Potentialunterschied, der nach Veränderung verlangt. Veränderung, die uns auf neue Wege führt, die uns im Leben weiterbringt und die uns wachsen lässt.

What excites me about contrast is what can come out of it. Contrast means friction and friction generates energy. Energy for changes in one’s position and in some cases energy for a completely new path, the 90° energy (orange area).

For this object I was looking for a simple form of representation. A basic element of art, lines. Horizontal lines meet vertical lines. White meets black. Maximum contrast, for the 90° energy, the maximum change out of contrast.
The metaphorical scope of the lines is also interesting. The vertical lines, upright, striving upward, unwavering, rather conservative. In contrast, the horizontal lines, down to earth, mobile, change by its own power.
And then the angle of view, the change of one’s position to the object. While the horizontal lines remain permeable regardless of one’s position, the vertical lines condense (become more impermeable) when viewed from the white side.
Contrast for me is like a difference in potential that calls for change. Change that leads us down new paths, that moves us forward in life, and that allows us to grow.
